Shuler Public Art Artist Presentations

Three artists will be presenting their final proposals on Monday, September 27 for the Shuler Elementary Public Art Memorial Project.  The three final artists are:
  1. Chris Bennett
  2. Artist team Rebecca Ekstrand & Tom Rosborough
  3. Artist team Steve Maxon & Doris Park
The public is invited to attend and listen to the artists explain their proposals in full detail.  Highlights and pictures of the three proposals will be available at http://www.clivepublicart.com/ on Monday, September 13.   The mock-ups will also be on display at the Clive Public Library from Monday, September 13 through Friday, September 17.  Then on display at Shuler Elementary from Monday, September 20 through Friday, September 24.

Prairie Engine Public Art Dedication

On Thursday, September 23, 2010, the City of Clive Mayor & Council, Public Arts Advisory Commission, and Clive Historical Society will sponsor an official ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the newly built sculpture plaza and public art piece titled “Prairie Engine” located at the historic Clive corner of NW 86th Street and University Boulevard.

The dedication will begin with a welcome reception beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Clive Historical Society is sponsoring free food and entertainment by local musicians The Erickson Family Band. The event will take place between the two sites of the public art sculpture and Swanson Memorial Park, both located near the intersection of NW 86th Street and Swanson/University Boulevard.

Residents are invited to join city officials, the Clive Historical Society, Public Arts Advisory Commission, and neighboring citizens to welcome the sculpture to its permanent home in the community. To learn more about the “Prairie Engine” public art sculpture, click here.
