Artist Marc Moulton provided a report of his progress on Prairie Engine, the piece commissioned for the NW 86th Street & University Boulevard Plaza. Marc also sent some pictures of his work in action.
According to Marc, the sculpture footings and foundations have been coordinated and worked out with the landscape architect. Fabrication has not yet begun. Currently, the digital patterns and designs necessary for the machine cutting have been developed and are under review for quote and feasibility. There are several different ways to cut metal, so Marc is reviewing possibilities and cut quality. Cutting should begin shortly. Installation is still projected for summer 2010.
